The VAT 69 is a blended Scotch whisky and was chosen out of a hundred blends by the finest connoisseurs of the 1880s. On the nose this blend has notes of sweet barley malt, cereals, caramel, pears and some spice. The barley malt and the pears reach the palate as well. Hints of a fruity sweetness and a little biscuit note are accompanied by spicy pepper. Overall, the body is mild, round and has a pleasant sweetness.
